Tylenol & Motrin recall
News...old news. Shocking, shocked. See blogs from angry and scared mothers, paranoid parents of newborns... Same here -- seizures, yes; alternating T and M, been there. Now what?
We paid top $$ for brand names hoping we're paying for better quality control. Now it turns out we know probably more than we wanted. But how are the generics? We don't know much about them -- is it a good thing or not? I mean no voluntary recalls means better quality control or less internal control? The thing is, whom/what to trust?
Or should we, not really we, more of the US, simply cut back in all medications? Do the 6-months-old really need Tylenol for teething pain or shots fever? Bear in mind, whenever pain relief is used, even the best quality one, it is harmful to the kidney and liver. You pay for the comfort. I use them only when absolutely necessary. Not even after my Cs. Never gave to the kids for a reason other than high fever. Wet towels actually work better to prevent seizures -- just you can no longer sleep thru the night. Again, comfort and convenience is not for free. I quit Claritin thingy too this spring, switching to masks, airfilter and jogging. So my liver and kidney would fail me less soon. I know those fancy pills come with a price.
An ancient Chinese saying, ''Any medicine has 3/10 of poison." 是药三分毒。
