Nation of arrogance

Was listening to a respectable, actually my favorite radio show(WAMU). Heard a guest talking about how it is possible that such a powerful and rich military/country have difficulties fighting Taliban. It is simply impenetrable to her that US military is not able to clean up the enemy nor can it run electricity to the nearest village. The obvious conclusion was, "Afghanistan Conspiracy". It has to be US supporting them underground.

It got me literally physically sick for about 10 minutes.

Is this how arrogant arrogance can get? That is their soil! No matter what kind of weed that is, it grew from there. I'm taking neither side of this war. However it is so straightforward to me that invaders can win, but grass root is never to be eliminated. A tough place like Afghanistan, people from there. Who do you think you are? My last resort was trying to compare this phenomenon with my toddler's thinking process.
